OUR STORY

His Story

Born and raised in Lido Beach, NY to Neil and Lydia Weiselberg, Jordan learned early on that education and family are two of the most important aspects of life. His favorite childhood memories revolve around family and the water. Growing up between the Atlantic Ocean and Reynolds Channel he loved going out on his grandfather’s boat, fishing with his father, and spending time on the beach with his friends. Like most preteen males in the 1990s Super Nintendo, sports, and the WWE (formerly WWF) were a major part of Jordan’s life. He is grateful for the many rounds of golf he played with his father, his mother’s educational values, and the siblings (Rachel, Naomi, and Josh) who helped shape his upbringing.

His education led him to SUNY Albany where he began his journey on becoming a New York City Teacher. It was also here that Jordan first met Lauren DeGasperis in 2006 and shared their first kiss in 2008. Following graduation Jordan and Lauren stayed in touch as new dreams took their lives in different directions. Fast forward to 2013 and Jordan moved into Brooklyn. Just a short 3 months later he asked Lauren out on their first date to the Brooklyn Museum. Since that mild winter day Lauren has given Jordan the most important education of all, an education in love. Finally, he cannot wait to officially welcome her into his family.

Her Story

Growing up in Kingston, NY as the eldest child of James and Kelley DeGasperis, Lauren has always been surrounded by love and guidance.  Her childhood was filled with adventures with her cousins and brothers, year-round sports facilitated by dad, playing Jeopardy nightly with her family and finding a best friend in her mom.  Lauren was always been encouraged to find her independence while journeying through life as well as letting love and happiness conquer all. Lauren’s passion for knowledge and need to help others guided her toward a career in patient healthcare.

In 2006, when Lauren embarked on her college journey at UAlbany , she had no idea that on her first night she would meet the man that she would later marry. He was loud, had piercings in his face, made cringe worthy jokes…. And she was instantly drawn to him, laughing hysterically at everything he said. For the two years they were at college together whenever Jordan was telling jokes at a party you could count on Lauren laughing at all of them,  even if she was the only one.

Fast forward to the fragile days after Hurricane Sandy and Lauren opened her home to Jordan for a home-cooked meal, electricity and some company. This re-connection (and a game of True American) sealed their fate. Soon after, Jordan invited Lauren to the Brooklyn Museum for their first date. Jordan has shown Lauren adventure in other countries, faith in love, how to manage a retirement account, how good she is at Jeopardy, endless giggles and how being in love with your best friend is indescribable.
